Max Van Lewen Swarthout to Myrtle
L. Edwards
At the home of the bride's parents, on New
Year's Day, occurred the marriage of Miss Myrtle L. Edwards
to Mr. Max van Lewen Swarthout, in the presence of the immediate
families of the bride and groom.
Promptly at high noon, to the strains of Mendelssohn's
Wedding March, played by Miss Orla Stetler, the couple marched
to a place in the parlor under a canopy of roses, which
had been arranged by the chums of the bride's girlhood days.
Then followed the beautiful ring ceremony
performed by Rev. J. N. Dingle, which made them man and
wife. After congratulations, the guests were invited to
the dining room where a wedding breakfast was served. The
bride was beautiful in a gown of white silk, with trimmings
of point lace, and carried an immense bouquet of bridal
roses. The groom was attired in the conventional black.
The presents were numerous, consisting of
money, beautiful silverware, china, and cut glass.
The bride is the accomplished daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John F. Edwards. The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Teal Swarthout, and is a musician of high repute,
having recently graduated in music at Leipsic, Germany,
and at present is the instructor in music at the college
in Oxford, Ohio. Both have lived in Paw Paw all their lives,
and count their friends by the score, who join with the
TIMES in wishing Max and Myrtle many prosperous years of
happy wedded life.
Mr. and Mrs. Swarthout departed for Dixon
on the evening train, amid a shower of rice, old shoes and
white streamers. On Wednesday they left for Oxford, Ohio,
their future home. Contributed by Marilyn Widler from
